Detox comic now every weekday Well I kinda got into the swing of things last week and created a new comic strip for each working day. I had to stop myself from creating more at the weekend because I knew that in the long run I would not be able to keep it up. This week found me trying to think up new ideas for the next day's comic and the next, trying to rack my brains for something that was funny. The ideas usually came to me while I was tired and taking a rest which immediately prompted me back into strip creation mode! Trying to create funny comic strips is not as easy as it may sound. What you will find most cartoonists doing is to create a current theme or topic that runs over a period of days or a week to keep the ideas rolling in. Switching to a new scenario every day can be confusing to the reader, especially during the early days when each character has not been properly introduced. But hey, I'm taking myself way too seriously. Creating a comic strip should be fun for the creator as well as for those that read it. So if I am not enjoying the process then I am doing something wrong. So bare with me over the course of this next month as I continue to play around with the strip tweaking it here and there until I get it just how I want it. Until I need to tweak it again that is. So 5 strips a week seems doable don't you think? I guess we'll see. Thank god for the weekend is all I can say. No, not because it gives me a break but because it allows me more time to create a few strips leaving week nights open to relaxation and general site maintenance. That said I promise to get around to completing an introduction page for all the characters that appear in the comic when I have a free moment. The hard part is knowing what words to put next to each person's name in order to appear amusing while doing him or her justice at the same time. Forgive me guys! Concerning Detox itself, I must confess to not working on writing all that much for it since I started the comic. Between the comic and keeping the front page updated I have had little time or inspiration for article writing. I am hoping that you lot out there can help me out on that one? And finally, to increase the available space on the front page for news items I am moving the blurb to a separate page which (when I write it) should inform you all what it is exactly we are trying to achieve here. Until next week I hope you enjoy our little piece of the net and don't be afraid to post some feedback or suggestions for the site on our message board. DK |
